Taking a look back at the Ukraine-India Relations over the time 

                 


  1. Political Relations 

India was one of the first country to recognize Ukraine as a sovereign nation in December 1991 and established diplomatic relations in January 1992

India is Ukraine's largest export destination in Asia-Pacific and 5th largest overall export destination.


India is 3rd largest exporter of pharmaceuticals products to Ukraine.

3.Vaccine Cooperation 

In February 2021, Ukraine received its first tranche of vaccines-500,000 doses of Astra-Zeneca and Serum Institute Of India -developed COVISHIELD vaccine from India.

Ukraine is one of the early countries to receive vaccines from India that helped  the nation to initiate its public vaccination drive.

4. Indian Community in Ukraine 

A small but vibrant Indian Community lives in Ukraine, comprising mostly of business professionals and students.


Indian business professionals work predominantly In the field of Pharmaceuticals, IT ,Engineering, Medicine, Education etc.

5. Indian students In Ukraine 

As per government data ,about 18,000 Indians are pursuing studies in Ukraine 

Ukraine is a popular choice for Indian medical students ,with the annual fees of such courses being around ₹2.5laks to ₹4 lakh. There is no mandate to clear any entrance. 

6. Ukraine & India's Neighbour's 

China left behind Russia to become Ukraine's biggest single trading partner in 2019.

Reportedly, in February 2021,Ukraine signed an $85.6 million tank-repair contract with Pakistan.


7. At the United Nations

1998

Ukraine opposed India's Pokhran nuclear tests at the UN and also voted in favor of UN Resolution 1172 that condemned the tests.

2022

India abstain from UN General Assembly resolution to condemn Russia aggression on Ukraine.
